About The Opportunity

What is the project?

We are setting up a digital book editorial. It is the same as any other editorial but, instead of printing out the books, we upload them to our website for people to download and read.

What is our goal?

Our main goal is to promote the activity of writing and reading. 

By providing the opportunity to have their manuscripts published professionally, we are motivating inexperienced, first-time, amateur, writers to finally take the decisive step to write and have their manuscripts read by other people. 

We understand that the process of writing a novel, or a book, is a complex and arduous process. By providing help, editing services, constructive criticism, and a platform from where to spread the writer’s work, we hope to incentivise the beautiful art of writing.

By inviting people to write we are also expanding the act of reading; in order to write you have to read. Good writers are normally excellent and passionate readers. These two acts complement each other in a way that increasing one should also lead to an increase in the other.

How are we different from other book editorials?

Firstly, and obviously, we are solely digital. More importantly, we assure the reading of every single manuscript that we receive and we commit ourselves to offer polite, constructivism criticism to all manuscripts.

What do we offer to the writers?

Firstly, it is important to say that we are a not-for-profit organisation seeking only to spread the activities of writing and reading. Therefore, our services will be offered for free.

Services include:

• The opportunity to submit a manuscript for us to read.
• The certainty that we will read your manuscript.
• Constructive criticism and tailored and personal help to improve the manuscript.
• Professional editing of the book if we decide to publish.
• Design and layout of the book.
• Publication of the finalised book in our website.
• Possibility to charge for the download of a book if the author chooses to.
• A platform from where to expose your work and attract the attention of bigger editorials.
• The possibility to physically print your book using the final version that we publish (we do not pay for this service just now).

(We reserve the right to decide on the publication of a manuscript as long as we have consent from the author.)

What do we offer to the readers?

The possibility to read books digitally for free (or at a very low price) from anywhere in the world. 

We also commit ourselves to the preservation of a high-quality standard whereby the thorough editing and adequate design of our books is maintained as the core tenet of the editorial. We, therefore, offer a certificate of quality for all our publications.

Team:

Our team is made up of volunteers who are either literature enthusiasts or want to improve their CV with meaningful work experience, or both.

So far, we are four: two editors, one graphic designer, and a social rep.

We are looking for people who would like to join the team as editors or graphic designers. We are also looking for help to develop a website.
