About Katherine Ara Ltd.

The Studio takes a sensitive and critical approach to paintings conservation and restoration, practicing minimal intervention to restore the balance and integrity of each painting. The Studio is secure with a controlled environment and is comprehensively equipped to accommodate most easel paintings.

Katherine has worked on Italian and Netherlandish Old Masters, 18th-century British painters, and Modern Masters. Some examples, illustrated in the website gallery, include Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Lucas Cranach the Younger, Gerard David, Hans Holbein, Titian, Thomas Gainsborough, Joshua Reynolds, and Salvador Dalí.

Full written and photographic documentation of the treatment process is provided for each painting. Technical analysis and art-historical research are carried out as required in order to inform the treatment, drawing on a broad network of expertise for dendrochronology, technical imaging, scientific analysis, and art historical investigation. Arrangements can be made for painting analysis, framing, art handling, and shipping/transportation. The Studio also provides condition reports for paintings and advice prior to acquisition.
